Tight Oil Processing Hub

 

Barmer, Rajasthan

Cairn Oil & Gas, Vedanta Ltd. is committed to its organisational vision to contribute 50% of India’s domestic crude production. Towards this vision, our NA-1 facility is being developed as Tight Oil processing hub. As part of this growth momentum, Mr Prachur Sah, Deputy CEO, Cairn Oil & Gas, Vedanta Ltd. inaugurated the NA-1 facility in the presence of Cairn ManCo members at a function held at NA-1 located in Barmer on February 23, 2021. The NA-1 facility completion represents the cornerstone achievement in the Aishwariya Barmer Hill development. This paves the way for our future growth through subsequent phase-wise development. The commissioning of NA-1 facility shall ensure unlocking and realisation of the full potential of Aishwariya Barmer Hill Stage II. This milestone marks the culmination of collaborative efforts by the entire team of Cairn and Schlumberger in spite of multiple challenges and constraints including the unprecedented COVID-19 pandemic.

Road Safety Month

 

Barmer, Rajasthan

Road Safety Month was observed across the nation from January 18 – February 17, 2021. Our Rajasthan asset teams’ including CSR, HSE, Wellness Committee at Mangala Processing Terminal and Road Safety team actively participated in various activities during the month-long activities along with the District Administration Barmer. These included pasting of reflective tapes on non-motorized vehicles & tractor trolleys, awareness program for use of helmet on two wheelers, awareness program for our project contractor work force at various locations, Road Safety quiz for drivers, contract workforce and employees, simulator ‘Driving Championship’ for our employees. These awareness activities covered our employees, contract workforce and local communities around our areas of operation in Rajasthan. Our efforts for spreading the Road Safety awareness amongst the local communities was recognised  with an ‘Appreciation Certificate’  by District Administration during the closing ceremony of the event. On behalf of the company, the certificate was received by Binay Kumar Nanda and Dr Uma Bihari Dwivedi.

Upstream Ahead

Cairn Oil & Gas participated in a prestigious industry summit ‘Upstream Ahead’ - Oil & Gas Exploration & Production Towards Vision 2050, under the aegis of Ministry of Petroleum and Natural Gas and Director General of Hydrocarbons from February 11-12, 2021. The summit was a platform where all key stakeholders converged together and discussed the issues, challenges and roadblocks, with a focus on the opportunities lies ahead for India’s Exploration & Production (E&P) sector. Cairn ManCo members and other senior leaders participated as speakers / panellists addressing multiple topics during the two days of the virtual summit.

Road Safety Program

 

Gudamalani, Barmer

Road Safety Month was observed from January 18 – February 17, 2021 across the nation. This event was organized at Raageshwari Gas Terminal (RGT) on a monumental note. Mr Bimal Shah, Road Transport Safety Officer visited RGT to enhance safety attitude in the mindset of all personnel associated with our operations including contract workforce. He initiated this event on footprint of famous game format “Kaun Banega Crorepati” and accordingly quiz show  was titled “Kaun Banega Road Safety Champion” which was conducted for all the participants. Further, road safety videos was demonstrated to all the participants so that they may have brief understanding of road safety rules and regulations. The session ended with vote of thanks to all the staff who attended and participated actively in this important initiative.

Sadak Suraksha Jeevan Raksha

 

Gudamalani, Barmer

Cairn Oil & Gas considers ‘Road Safety’ as an integral part of HSE management. An awareness session on “Sadak Suraksha, Jeevan Raksha” was organised at Raageshwari Gas Terminal (RGT). This awareness session was also important in view of Road Safety Month which is also being celebrated across entire nation. All the drivers assembled near the Radio Room in the Terminal and awareness session was initiated with welcome note from Mr Mani VA, Field General Manager. He solicited sincere gratitude to all the drivers for their diligent efforts in our operations and appreciated their efforts as equivalent to regular operation personnel which in turn is consequential in enhancing growth of an organisation. He also asserted that “Safe Driving” is to be sustained on continual basis. There onwards, Rajish R, Deputy Manager - HSE deliberated on lagging indicators like Motor Vehicle Crash Rate and insisted that there should be no instance of any “lagging Indicator”. Pamphlets on “Road Safety Signs” were distributed to all the drivers present during the session.

Towards Digitisation

Cairn Oil and Gas had launched project “Nirmaan” to accomplish the vision of our group towards excellence in digitalisation. In continuation of this effort a ‘Rigless Intervention Planning, Execution Tracking and Performance Analytics‘ platform was launched. The solution focuses on digitization of the entire workflow from opportunity generation to execution for rig-less interventions. The key features of this platform are a) common platform available to multiple stakeholders to log production optimisation opportunities, schedule corresponding intervention activities and provides visibility across the entire workflow b) eliminates manual effort to generate and publish data for further intervention activities c) integrated with Babelfish, Openwells and swift database allowing performance monitoring analysis of various well intervention activities.

Hosekeeping is Godliness

 

Viramgam, Gujarat

Housekeeping is not just cleanliness. It includes keeping the work areas neat and orderly, maintaining pathways and floors free of slip and trip hazards, and removing of waste materials (e.g., waste material, paper, cardboard, dry grass) and other fire hazards from work areas. In line with above objective, Viramgam Terminal of Midstream had conducted a mega housekeeping drive at Viramgam Terminal. During this combined drive, a specific location was selected where-in the team including employees, contractors and service providers had assembled with strict social distancing checks and carry-out a mass housekeeping drive. This drive included removing of waste material and dry grass, and ensured the adequacy of storage and sorting.

Towards Positvity

 

Viramgam, Gujarat

Positive workplace is often believed to be the foundation of successful and safe workplace. Cairn Oil & Gas Viramgam team in Midstream has put in continuous efforts to maintain the positivity and innovated an idea to promulgate the positivity through artistic exhibitions every day. Security team at Viramgam Terminal had converted an unused old white board at Main entrance gate into a wisdom board with daily quote “subah ki suvichar” towards positivity. This is initiated and driven by Ms. Hetal Ben, Viramgam Security Guard. Such good practices provide workforce a refreshing, encouraging and inspirational kick-start of the day filled with positivity and high energy.

Under the Cairn Wellness Program – YourDOST, a progressive mental and emotional wellness program with a strong intent to promote a healthy and cheerful mind was launched virtually on February 05, 2021 by Mr Shobhit Tiwari, Chief HSEQ Officer, Cairn Oil & Gas. YourDOST is India’s first and largest online emotional wellness platform. This is an attempt to build a robust response plan to ward off any worry or stress that may affect our lifestyle. This initiative brings an online 24x7 guidance from 900+ experts. These include psychologists, psychotherapists, career coaches and life coaches. The platform enables a convenient, anonymous and confidential way for everyone to access professional support to eradicate all kinds of worries and stress. YourDOST services are available for Cairn employees and their dependents.

Salamat Suvali

Gram Panchayat Suvali organised an event titled “Salamat Suvali” and felicitated Mr. Viresh Patel, Installation Manager - Suvali and Cairn Oil & Gas Suvali management team for sponsoring CCTVs for the safety and security of Suvali village. Suvali Gram Panchayat Sarpanch Mrs. Naina Ben Rathod gifted an appreciation certificate to Mr. Patel along with the site team members Mrs. Lavanya Pattanayak, Administration and CSR Manager, Mrs. Ruchi Sangawan, Manager – Security, Mr. Vinay Dave, Electrical Engineer, and Mr. Snehal Patel, Mechanical Engineer who attended the event. Mr. Bipinbhai Patel, Deputy Sarpanch and Mr. Babu Bhai, a member of the panchayat, and other village elders were present on the occasion. Mr. Bipin Patel appreciated the role of Cairn and Vedanta management in supporting the community safety and emphasised how the installation of CCTVs will keep the entire village and their people safe from thefts, untoward incidents along Suvali sea beach road, and life-threatening invasion of wild animals in the village.

Passion To Serve

Small acts can transform lives. With this thought in mind, Cairn Oil & Gas Suvali team at CB/0S-2 have initiated a career counseling campaign for 9th and 10th class students of Navchetan School, Junagam. A dynamic team from the Cambay offshore - Ms. Kavita Maheswari, Production Engineer, Ms. Sagorika Malik, Environmental Engineer, and Ms. Deboshree from Finance function volunteered for this program along with Ms. Lavanya Pattanayak, Manager Administration and CSR. Nearly 80 to 90 students participated in this program. Mr. Satish Patel, Principal, Navchetan School  appreciated the efforts and passion of these young engineers to serve the community and acknowledged this thoughtful initiative by Cairn.

 

Sanitisation Campaign

 

Suvali, Gujarat

As schools commenced in Junagam after a long period, the Cairn Offshore team extended the support and initiated a sanitisation drive to ensure schools are safe and protected. The entire school premises are being santised on a fortnightly basis. Mr Satish Patel, Principal and school management appreciated these efforts by the Cairn CSR team.

Dairy Farmers Annual Convention

 

Sanchore, Rajasthan

The 13th Annual Farmer's Convention Meet 2021 was organised on January 28, 2021, at Gram Panchayat Vishnugarh, Block Bhadurna, Sanchore - District Jalore. The meet was held to discuss the project's objective, direction, progress, and challenges faced this year. The meet was organised by NGO partner SURE and supported by Cairn CSR. This successful event was attended by more than 300 dairy farmers, including women dairy farmers, Self-Help Groups (SHGs), and Panchayati Raj Institution members. The convention was also attended by scientists, previously associated with the Central Arid Zone Research Institute, Jodhpur, representatives from partner organisations, and Cairn CSR to discuss the progress, reflect on the challenges, and learn about new developments in the area of dairy technology.

The community members appreciated this initiative and shared that this initiative has helped them generate extra income and has provided an alternate opportunity for livelihood. Dairy development and scientific knowledge have also helped several women to improve their income significantly and attain financial independence.

 

Road Safety Month

The Road Safety Month has been initiated by the Ministry of Road Transport and Highways to raise public awareness about traffic rules and ultimately reduce casualties due to road accidents. This year's theme to promote road safety was ‘Safe yourself to save your family’. The Cairn Oil & Gas CSR teams’ across Rajasthan locations along with Cairn HSE team collaborated with District Administration and District Transport Office Barmer to organise the 32nd Road Safety Month awareness program from January 18, 2021, to February 17, 2021, in the district of Barmer. The event was flagged off by Mr Vishram Meena, District Collector, Barmer with a vehicle rally from Mahaveer Town Hall, Barmer, with ADM Barmer and DTO Barmer in the presence of Cairn team members. CSR team helped to spread the larger safety awareness message to the communities across our area of operation.

Shaping New Avenues – A case study

 

Barmer, Rajasthan

Vala Ram, a 22-year-old from village Leelsar in District Barmer was unemployed with no clear career vision. One day, his friend Rama Ram told him about the Cairn Enterprise Center (CEC) and the vocational courses offered. He was unsure about it and had several doubts in his mind, but his friend insisted on a visit to the center once. Upon his CEC visit and meeting with skill training counselors, he understood the courses available at CEC and the job opportunities thereafter. Vala Ram always had an interest in electrical work and decided to join the basic electrician course. At CEC, he learnt about house wiring, using tools, safety, and precautions, staircase wiring, go down wiring, distribution box wiring, 1 BHK, 2 BHK wiring, and repairing home appliances. He also learned soft skills and improved his English language skills. He has now opened his electrical accessories shop at Leelsar, and gets tenders for light decoration at parties, marriages, and receptions. He earns an average profit of INR 15000/month. Such entrepreneurs are the future of India and CEC has always worked as a foundation for building a sustainable livelihood to the people, especially the youth of the region.

Skilling The Youth

 

Barmer, Rajasthan

Cairn Rural Skill Development Centers are working towards the goal of 'Aatma Nirbhar Bharat' with our community members living near the Indo-Pak border area. The center has trained 31 female and nine male candidates on masonry at their village with NSDC certified courses through two centers at Gadra Road and Kantal ka Paar. Through this 90-day course including a 30 day on-the-job training, Cairn is providing them safety training and also learning material on masonry. Over the last three years, the centers have trained community members across 40 villages and helped enhance their incomes of trainees.

 

Veterinary Solution Shop

 

Gudamalani, Barmer

The Dairy Development Project reached another important milestone with the inauguration of the second Veterinary Solution Shop (VSS) at Gudamalani town in the presence of Pradhan (Local Leader) Gudamalani, village Sarpanches, block-level Government officials, and Cairn representatives. The concept of the shop is to provide varieties of cattle feeds, raw material, and veterinary medicines through a single-window and controlled prices. The VSS will be run by the local farmer's society formed by our project partner. The first VSS opened in 2019 at Dedwa village, Jalore, and is running on good profit and active participation of community members.

 

COVID Warriors

 

Barmer, Rajasthan

COVID-19 has affected the lives of people in Barmer and our district hospital support staff have proved their mettle during this pandemic. After almost a year, we conducted our first quarterly meeting with the housekeeping staff of district hospital in Barmer. It was attended by Principal Medical Officer, Dr. BL Mansuriya, Chairman BJSS, Mr Om, Hospital Superintendent, Mr Prakash Changani along with Cairn representatives. During the meeting, Dr. Mansuriya appreciated the hard work of the housekeeping staff and mentioned that their relentless work is motivational leading to a lower number of COVID patients and better control. However, he reiterated that fight is not over, and we need to continue to exercise caution. The collaboration also led to the COVID-19 vaccination of at least 90 percent of the project staff at the hospital. Additional VTM kits (testing kits) were also presented to the district hospital by Cairn.

 

Health Camp

 

Gudamalani, Barmer

We have successfully organised our first ‘Health Camp’ of this year. Due to COVID restriction and lockdown, It took the team almost a year to organise a health camp. The camp was organised by our Mobile Health Van (MHV)  partner on February 4, 2021 in the village Sindhaswa Harniyan, Block Gudamalani. Gopal Jawana Ram, Village Sarpanch and other key stakeholders were present along with the Cairn representatives at the camp. A gynecologist, dermatologist, dentist, and general physician were present to provide health services to the communities. Also  eye check-ups, blood pressure, sugar, BMI, etc. were also tested and free medicines were distributed. A total of 268 people benefited from the camp. During the program, COVID-19 protocols were adhered to strictly, and each person was provided with a sanitiser and mask.

 

Passion To Serve

Cairn employees play a pivotal role in the process of ensuring sustainable operations as well as creating an impact on the lives of community members through volunteering roles under various CSR initiatives as part of the “Passion To Serve” program. A total of 24 employees actively participated in different activities and contributed more than 45-man hours. A large section of key stakeholders along with community got benefited through these interventions thereby touching more than 820 people by the employees volunteering program.

Mr. Jayesh Gehlot Manager - Environment, took session on Environment Management System and Regulatory Framework E&P Upstream Sector for Engineering Collage students. A total of 35 students participated in the session. Mr. Binay Nanda Senior Manager - Land Acquisition emphasised trainees that cairn has given them a path and they should work ethically and honestly to accomplish their goals in life.

Mr. Bimal Kumar Shah – Officer, Road Safety Transport; Mr. Prithvi Singh Rathore - Consultant Security; Mr. Vaga Ram - Civil Engineer Land Acquisition - RJ North; Mr. Yogesh Vyas - Senior Engineer- Instrumentation conducted awareness on road safety and reflector pasting activity held at Near T Junction Jasdev Dham Barmer on Jodhpur Highway.

Mr. Virendra Singh, Security Manager - RGT and Mr. Prithvi Raj Singh Chouhan, Coordinator - BD & PA participated in the Mega Health Camp at Sindhwasa Hariyan in Gudamalani Block.

Mr. Prithvi Raj Singh Chouhan - Coordinator - BD & PA and Mr. Bimal Kumar Shah, Officer - Road Safety Transport conducted awareness on road safety and reflector pasting activity held at Gudamalani in the presence of Block Officials and the inauguration of the 2nd Veterinary Solution Shop at Gudamalani.

Mr Akshayanand Jha, Senior Petroleum Engineer delivered a session on ‘Introduction of Artificial Lift in Petroleum Industry’ for 40 Government Engineering Collage students.

Mr. Abhijit Panchmatiya, Engineer - Bhogat Terminal took an awareness session on career development. He took the session on goal setting and setting high aim for career enhancement.

Road Safety March

Vedanta Jharsuguda  team organised a Road Safety Awareness march on February 20,2021 led by Mr. GG Pal, COO - Metal, Mr. Anjan Sinha, COO -Power and Mr. Ajay Pandey, Head - HSF and Sustainability. Starting from TPP to the main gate, the awareness march witnessed the participation by hundreds of employees and business partners. It culminated with a short meeting addressed by the leaders reaffirming our commitment towards safety as our utmost priority in-line with our Chairman’s vision to build a responsible and  sustainable business strongly founded in 'Zero Harm'. The Road Safety awareness march aimed to spread awareness about how to drive safely in order to avoid accidents and injuries and educate on traffic rules and regulations. At Vedanta Jharsuguda, teams put in robust safety measures ensuring that our operations are zero accident/incident zone.

Nand Ghar Towards Nation Building

Nand Ghar with its approach towards health and development of children and women has become central powerhouse where the beneficiaries can continue to get vital services. Nand Ghars witnessed the celebration of "Godbharai" across geographies. During the "Mahila Samooh Baithak", the pregnant women were given immunization and counselling session for maintaining good health. The sessions were attended by Mr Rajesh, Chief People Development Officeri, Ms Naaz, Lady Supervisor and Auxiliary Nurse Midwife along with the staff of Nand Ghars. Nand Ghar continues to spread health and prosperity in the communities and aim for a healthier and better future for Aatmanirbhar Bharat.

Road Safety Bike Rally

Vedanta Lanjigarh organised a bike rally to sensitize people about road safety and its importance in our daily lives. Approximately 50 people participated in the rally. The rally was conducted adhering to all the laws and safety standards of road safety. The participants also took an oath at the Lanjigarh Police Station focusing on compliance with road safety rules and regulations.

Beti Janmotsav

Nand Ghar has become an ecosystem that promotes equality for all and alleviates the status of the vulnerable sections of the society. It has evolved into a platform for opportunities and recognition. "Beti Janmotsav" is one such activity where-in the girl child birth is celebrated at the Nand Ghar and the community pledges to promote her and provide her with all the rightful opportunities. This event was conducted at the Nand Ghars in Neem Ka Thana, Sikar where the chief guests included DSP Police Department, Former Pradhan, Block Officer and Child Development Project Officer, Neem Ka Thana along with the Sarpanch and the Integrated Child Development Services staff. The day was celebrated with utmost fanfare, cake cutting, cultural fiesta and the DSP declared his unending support to secure the Nand Ghar and initiate police patrolling in the block at night to secure the Nand Ghars.
