Re-energise 2021

With the onset of 2021, Cairn Oil & Gas Vedanta Ltd. is re-energising and moving towards a brighter 2021 and beyond. To this end, Cairn ManCo along with other leaders visited Barmer from January 18-22, 2021 for a “Management Onsite Workshop: Delivering Future Growth for Cairn”, to review the progress of major projects towards completion, engage with partners and finalise our business plans for FY’22. Along with site visits, multiple virtual sessions was held with various functional teams throughout the week to chart the next course of action to ‘Reset & Re-energise 2021’. Mr Sunil Duggal, Group CEO, Vedanta Ltd. and Mr Ajay Kapur, CEO Aluminum & Power, Vedanta Ltd joined the Cairn ManCo members during last two days of the visit to commission two key projects, interact with site leadership team and employees, especillay young talents, and also visited select well-pads in Mangala Bhagyam Aishwarya (MBA) fields.

Town Hall
Barmer, Rajasthan
An employee town hall with the theme ‘Reset & Re-energize 2021’ was held on January 19, 2021. Prachur Sah, Deputy CEO, Cairn Oil & Gas, Vedanta Ltd. anchored the town hall along with other ManCo members to share the Q3 performance update, and also to outlay the growth focus areas for delivering growth in FY’22. The virtual town hall was addressed by the leadership team from Mangala Processing Terminal in Barmer. The town hall saw an active participation from the employees who shared questions and thoughts on many key facets of the business through an online link shared ahead of the event. Also, many key business, operations and people related questions were also seen coming through the chat window of the town hall meeting. Even though it was a virtual town hall but the higher engagement from employees and ManCo meant it was no less than a physical way of connecting and engaging for everyone.

Train 4 Inauguration
Barmer, Rajasthan
The start of 2021 marked the commissioning of many key projects in our operations, aiding our organizational vision to develop the Rajasthan asset to help achieve our target production. In line with this vision, as part of the Mangala Upgradation Project, Train 4 was inaugurated at Mangala Processing Terminal (MPT) on January 21, 2021 by Mr Sunil Duggal, Group CEO, Vedanta Ltd. in the presence of Mr Ajay Kapur, CEO Aluminum & Power, Vedanta Ltd.; Mr Prachur Sah, Deputy CEO, Cairn Oil & Gas, and Cairn ManCo members. This new facility will augment the liquid handling capacity of MPT. The project was executed by L&T Hydrocarbon Engineering Ltd., safely amidst the COVID pandemic scenario. This project will increase liquid handling capacity, power fluid, injection water, and filter capacity at the Mangala Processing Terminal.

Petrofac Project
Inauguration

Cairn Oil & Gas, Vedanta Ltd. is committed to its organisational vision to contribute 50% of India’s domestic crude production. Towards this vision our Raageshwari Gas Terminal is being developed as a gas processing hub. As part of this growth journey, Mr Sunil Duggal, Group CEO, Vedanta Ltd. inaugurated the Raageshwari Deep Gas (RDG) Processing Terminal, in the presence of Mr Ajay Kapur, CEO Aluminum & Power, Vedanta Ltd; Mr Prachur Sah, Deputy CEO, Cairn Oil & Gas, and Cairn ManCo members at a function held at RDG main control building on January 22, 2021. The supply of processed gas from the new terminal to export gas pipeline commenced a day earlier on January 21, 2021. This commissioning marks the culmination of 34 months of collaborative efforts of the entire team of Petrofac, Worley and Cairn, in spite of multiple challenges and constraints including the unprecedented COVID-19 lockdown. The team is now focused on ramping-up sales gas volume through RDG plant and full integration of Base Terminal with RDG Terminal seamlessly. Post completion of PGTR at the design capacity, together with Bridge Plant, the combined gas processing capacity at Raageshwari Gas Terminal will be enhanced to 50kboped.

Safety Mock Drill
Radhanpur, Gujarat
On December 30, 2020 a ‘Level III offsite emergency mock drill’ was organised on crude oil spur line between Above Ground Installation (AGI) 13A and Radhanpur Terminal in Gujarat. The scenario of the mock drill was of a crude oil leakage from spur line and fire. The mock drill was witnessed by Government officials including Deputy Director - DISH Mehsana, Scientific Officer - GPCB, Palanpur and Police officials. The mock drill was conducted jointly with Indian Oil Corporation Limited as a mutual aid partner and representatives from Hindustan Petroleum Corporation Limited, Santalpur and Gas Authority of India Limited, Samiakhiyali were also present as observers. Mr Aniruddhsinh Rathod, DGM - Operations; Mr Hitudan Zula, Manager – Production; Mr Mansoor Shah Khan, Assistant Manager – HSEQ and Cairn Operation & Maintenance team of Radhanpur Terminal were also present during off-site mock drill.

Celebrating Bhagyam

Bhagyam asset in Rajasthan celebrated nine years of successful operation on January 20, 2020. The asset has crossed 57.5 million barrels of oil production which is ~10.1% of Mangala Bhagyam Aishwarya (MBA) production. Some of the key projects completed during the year included commissioning of Electrical Submersible Pump (ESP) in June 2020 and commissioning of Bhagyam EOR skids and full-field Polymer Injection in December 2020. To celebrate this milestone, an employee get-together was organised at Central park in Bhagyam well pad 06. Mr Rajendra R Patel - Installation Manage, Bhagyam addressed the employees on the occasion.

Republic Day Celebrations
Site Locations
The 72nd Republic Day was celebrated with great fervor and enthusiasm across all site locations following the required pandemic norms of social distancing and wearing masks. At Mangala Processing Terminal (MPT) in Barmer the celebrations started with the flag hoisting by Mr Vinay Mathur, Field General Manager – MPT along with Mr Nasib Singh Kadian, General Manager Rajasthan Security & Administration. Also present during the event were Capt Deepak Patni and Mr Mukesh Singh. The armed contingent of Thar Falcon Commandos of Border Home Guards at Barmer, Rajasthan and security guards at all sites in their ceremonial dress, presented a foot tapping National salute – The Salami Shastra, to honour the National Flag amongst employees and contractor’s work force. The leadership team addressed the gathering and presented mementos to support functions – security, catering staff, drivers etc for their tireless contribution.
The Ravva team celebrated the occasion in the plant. All employees assembled at the location for flag hoisting. The program commenced with the Guard of Honour by Mr K Srihariprasdreddy, Installation Manager - Ravva who honoured the flag hoisting followed by team national anthem. The security platoon march past was carried out as a mark of respect to the national flag. The Installation Manager addressed the gathering with a Republic Day message. Mr Murali Krishna, Manager Administration and few of other participants also addressed the employees. The function culminated with a group photograph followed by refreshments.
At Suvali terminal in CB/OS-2, Mr Viresh Patel, Installation Manager hoisted our national flag at the plant premises. Employees and contract workforce attended the event. Mr Patel addressed the gathering and appreciated the tireless efforts of the security personnel, housekeeping and gardening team for their contribution during the entire year. Outstanding performers from security team and gardening team were felicitated with mementos.

Road Safety Month

Cairn Oil & Gas Rajasthan asset team is actively participating in the on-going Road Safety Month which commenced on January 18, 2021. The flag off of the campaign was led by District Collector & District Transport Officer, Barmer along with our CSR and Road Safety team. Harmeet Sehra, Head CSR, Cairn Oil & Gas led the initiative from the business end. Our team was led by Harmeet Sehra. As a commitment of Government of Rajasthan ‘No Reflectors – No Vehicles’ a pasting of reflective tapes on tractor trolleys, three wheelers & non-motorized vehicles was undertaken which was led by District Collector himself. With the support of Cairn CSR and HSE teams’ a similar activity of pasting of reflective tapes was also conducted near Raageshwari Gas Terminal (RGT) areas in the presence of SDM & Tehsildar. The road safety awareness training & quiz program ‘Kaun Banega Road Safety Champion’ was conducted at RGT for drivers, contract staff and employees in three different sessions.

Leadership Visit

Cairn ManCo members including Mr Prachur Sah, Deputy CEO, Cairn Oil & Gas, Vedanta Ltd. visited Cairn CSR projects on January 21, 2021 which included Barmer Unnati Program as part of Agri-Natural Resource Management initiative, Jeevan Amrit – the safe drinking water project, Swasthya Saarthi – Mobile Health Van, and NandGhar. They interacted with the community members and beneficiaries of CSR interventions around the Mangala operational areas. Mr Sunil Duggal, Group CEO, Vedanta Ltd and Mr Ajay Kapur, CEO – Aluminium and Power inaugurated Thar Bazaar at Mangala Processing Terminal – Operational Base, showcasing dairy and horticulture produce from our project areas along with handicraft by rural women of Barmer.

Republic Day Celebrations

Cairn CSR celebrated the nation’s 72nd Republic Day across multiple sites in Rajasthan, Gujarat, and Andhra Pradesh. The festivities were held with flag hoisting ceremonies at Cairn Centre of Excellence (CCoE) in Jodhpur and Cairn Enterprise Centre (CEC) Barmer with trainees across multiple trades. Children at six Nand Ghars also hoisted the tri-colour in the presence of local leaders and eminent personalities in the village to support the power of democracy. A flag hoisting ceremony was undertaken at one of our RO plants commemorating the occasion.
In Gujarat, a flag hoisting ceremony was organised at the Govt. Khijadiya Primary School with competitions for school children and an awareness session on menstrual hygiene with adolescents and anganwadi workers.
The CSR team in Barmer also engaged with the district administration and stakeholders to organise a friendly cricket match and basketball match on the theme ‘Mask hi vaccine hain’ between local players, district officials, and media personnel. The district administration at Ravva, took this opportunity to recognise our CSR initiatives in the area, and the District Collector presented a certificate of recognition to the team.

Dairy Independence

The community members of village Daro ki Dhani were suffering due to exploitation from private players in the local dairy and milk sector. Cairn Dairy Development project team came to know on the concerns of the villagers regarding milk supply, market linkages and organised a meeting with the farmers in 2017-18 keeping the interest of the farmers in mind. Following this, a Mahila Dudah Uptpadak Sahkari Samiti (MDUSS) was formed within the village to supply milk. After various meetings, trainings, and workshops people became aware of the new technologies in the dairy business. Finally, the society started the business with 30 lite of milk collection/day in 2018 and reached up to 2000 liters/day by December 2020 and the society started supplying milk to Jasmool Dairy, Rajasthan. A lot of changes have been observed during the last two years and women have experienced increased goodwill in the market as well as in society. They are inspiring others as well. These women now talk confidently, manage family issues, and play an important role in decision-making matters of their families. This time the society received a bonus of INR 27 lacs from Jasmool dairy which was distributed among dairy farmers as a dividend and also used to establish a 5KV Solar system to make the dairy is self-sustainable in the future.

Self-sustaining Poultry Development

Under the Barmer Unnati project, Cairn Oil & Gas had established 25 family-level poultry clusters for operational area farmers. These units are poised at bringing economic benefits to the people. 11 families were inspired on seeing the demonstrations and got associated with us for developing their poultry clusters. In collaboration with Krishi Vigyan Kendra, farmers from Gudamalani and Desantri Nadi have been able to leverage this initiative through the Barmer Unnati project.

Capacity Building Program
Barmer, Rajasthan
Under the Jeevan Amrit project, the team conducted this year’s first capacity building and consultation for all RO operators in the Balotra block. In a three-hour-long event, a total of 12 RO operators were trained on various technical aspects, operating procedures, and safety precautions to run the plants smoothly and ensure 24x7 access to safe drinking water for the community. The training included a refresher post and a training session.

Girl Child Day
Barmer, Rajasthan
National Girl Child Day was celebrated across 31 Nand Ghars project villages in and around our operational area in Rajasthan. 362 adolescent girls from these remote villages participated in a day-long event with introductory sessions on healthy changes in the body, nutrition habits, menstrual hygiene, nutritional habits in the growing age, and exceptional career opportunities by continuing their education. Sarpanches, PRI members, community leaders from the villages, and CSR team members attended the event.

Menstrual Hygiene Awareness
Viramgam, Gujarat
girls of reproductive age-group worldwide. To raise awareness and promote the usage of sanitary napkins and proper waste disposal, an awareness campaign was organised by Yuva Unstoppable an NGO as a part of the education project of the Cairn Foundation. The awareness campaigns were held across four primary schools of Viramgam area, in which approximately 150 girls and women from the community participated. The event was also attended by two female employees from Cairn Viramgam Terminal and a CSR representative. After the awareness session, sanitary napkins were distributed to all women and girls who attended the session. The awareness campaign was appreciated by the school principal, teachers, and community members.

Community Help Desk
Viramgam, Gujarat
Cairn Foundation has partnered with Gujarat CSR Authority for the Community Help Desk center project across six villages near the Viramgam terminal. The project is aimed at raising awareness among people regarding various government schemes and help in the facilitation of the application procedure as well as follow-up and monitoring with the Government offices. Help Desk centers are a one-stop destination for facilitating access to government schemes, their benefits, and entitlements for community members. The project was inaugurated by DDO, Ahmedabad, and IAS Arun Mahesh Babu in the presence of, Cairn Ashish Gupta, General Manager, Viramgam Terminal, Cairn Oil & Gas.

Blood Donation Camp
Viramgam, Gujarat
Cairn Foundation supported the mega blood donation camp organised by Taluka Sewa Sadan and Red Cross Society on January 8, 2021, where 502 voluntary blood contributions were made by community members. Cairn gave out mementos and appreciation certificates to donors as well as arranged for refreshments. SDM appreciated the efforts put in by Cairn for conducting this mega event.

Cairn employees play a pivotal role in the process of ensuring sustainable operations as well as creating an impact on the lives of community members through volunteering roles under various CSR initiatives as part of the “Passion To Serve” program.
Barmer Engineering college students are leveraging the Cairn expertise regularly through virtual classroom sessions. A total of 14 classes were conducted by our employees who contributed more than 30 hours of their time. The administration of the college is pleased with Cairn employees’ intervention, particularly in developing the Petroleum Engineering talent. This month a total of three employees actively participated in different subjects and contributed more than six-man hours. A large section of key stakeholders along with the community is benefitting through these initiatives. We touched the lives of more than 129 people through the employee volunteering program. Mr. Govind Tikyani, Electrical Engineer took sessions on thermal power plant for 40 engineering students from Rajasthan in collaboration with the Government Engineering College, Barmer.
Mr. Shivam Kumar, HSE Engineer conducted a webinar on Basic HSE awareness at Government Engineering College, Barmer. Approximately 40 engineering students participated in this session.
Mr. Paresh Agarwal, Senior Petroleum Engineer delivered a session on Introduction to Reservoir Engineering - Drive Mechanism in Government Engineering College, Barmer. Approximately 49 students participated in this session.

Cairn Foundation, Assam State Rural Livelihood Mission society (ASRLM) and Seven Sisters Development Assistance (SeSTA) signed a tripartite Memorandum of Understanding (MoU) on January 05, 2021. This non-financial technical partnership will help the communities access different government schemes and will meet the expectations of the communities living near our operational area in Assam. The MoU was signed by Smt. Krishna Baruah, Mission Director, ASRLM; Mr. Joydeep Sen, Head CSR, New Ventures; Cairn Oil & Gas and Mr. Pradyut Bhattacharjee, Executive Director, SeSTA at the ASRLM office in Guwahati, Assam. Mr. Arunabh Parashar; Regional Head, North East, and Mr. Nongyai Heikrujam; CSR Lead, North East handed over the MoU to Smt. Krishna Baruah. Meeting was virtually attended by Mr. Biswanath Ghosh; Head OALP and Ms. Shefali Malhotra; Dy CFO New Ventures.The aim of the project is to strengthen the existing women Self Help Group (SHGs) which are under and/or promoted by ASRLM through a series of capacity building, credit access and market linkage initiatives. As part of this project various existing central and state schemes on livelihood and income generation activities will also be facilitated to give increased access to the community and community-based organisations. The project will help in addressing the issues of limited livelihood opportunities of the rural communities especially post-COVID phase. The project will cover 25 villages during the pilot phase with a plan to scale-up based on the learnings and experience gained during the first phase.

Balco Medical Center (BMC) was awarded a Certificate of Appreciation by the Collector of Raipur for exemplary performance under Ayushman Bharat Pradhan Mantri Jan Aarogya Yojana – Dr. Khoobchand Baghel Swasthya Sahayata Yojana. Developing Potential
Mr. Rahul Sharma, Deputy CEO - Aluminium business felicitated diversity leaders. BALCO organized a specialized a two-day Management Development Program on – ‘Developing Leadership Potential’ for the recognized diversity leaders. The program was curated and delivered by the eminent faculty of IIM- Raipur covering all the aspects of leadership in the corporate sector. Mr Sharma motivated them to utilize the ample opportunities being provided by Vedanta for its women workforce.
Education For All
Chairman Anil Agarwal interacted with our enthusiastic students from Vedanta Colleges on the auspicious occasion of Republic Day. Our country is in the right hands with such passionate youngsters. He said “They made me reminisce my early days and it was a pleasure to share my story with them.” Proud of our Vedanta Foundation (VF) team for working diligently on educating and skilling youth to become entrepreneurs through Vedanta Foundation’s 'Vedanta Rozgar Yojana'.
