Driving is an ideal test of human cognition, vision, hearing, and pyscho-motor functions. The challenge of behavioral correction in drivers was brainstormed at Cairn and it was felt the next improvement could be brought in only with the aid of technology. In line with this context , Cairn Oil & Gas has commissioned a ‘Driving Simulator’ on November 17, 2019 at Mangala Processing Terminal (MPT), Barmer. This equipment emulates four scenarios – city drive, highway drive, defensive city drive and defensive with multitude of additions like rain, fog, and other factors introduced in between. The simulator has been customised for Cairn with a provision of emulating both light vehicles as well as heavy vehicles in the same simulator. The virtual environment is created in an 1800 display in front of the driver through three digital LEDs.The simulator even offers a real-life crash experience with the hardware software integration of the driver seat, steering wheel, and the software. On the wheel correction technology allows the driver to understand the faults he is making on a real-time basis. The simulator is continuously monitored by an instructor who gives the necessary feedback to the person behind the wheel based on his vast experience and the simulator analysis on the instructor screen.

Cairn is the first oil and gas company in India to have the advanced version with motion sensor simulators. With the introduction of the Driving Simulation Centre we have taken a leap forward into the digital era of HSE trainings for our personnel.
