New Benchmark Set
Bhogat, Gujarat
As the saying goes “Make it simple, but significant” and our pipeline team has just demonstrated the same. Recently Bhogat Terminal has successfully carried out reverse crude oil pumping from Bhogat to SBPL (Salaya Bhogat Pipeline) for sales to M/s Nayara Energy (Formerly Essar Oil). Reverse pumping has reduced blocked inventory (in monsoon period) with negligible implication in the existing system. With this Bhogat team has set new benchmark by establishing capability to reverse flow into SBPL with minimum capex.
Kudos to the team!

Technology Intervention
Barmer, Rajasthan
Plant Integrity function, recently adopted a new technology- ‘MTM inspection’ for pipeline. It is a magneto metric Diagnostic system for non-contact inspection of steel pipelines (gas, oil & water) without excavation and pigging using villari effect (or magneto-elastic effect, it is a change of the magnetic susceptibility of a material when subjected to a mechanical stress.). Inspection of 4 different non piggable pipelines were carried out and their respective defect verifications is in progress. It’s a fast inspection process in comparison to other methods. Also there is no production loss and remote location can be easily verified. Inspection of non piggable pipelines will be easier using this technology.
