CAIRN INDIA LIMITED
CORPORATE SUSTAINABILITY REPORT 2015-16
MEETING OUR SOCIAL COMMITMENTS
Every day thousands of employees and contract workers make their way to Cairn locations across the country in order to make India a little less reliant on foreign oil – thereby saving the nation billions of dollars in foreign exchequer reserves. Concurrently, their work adds millions of dollars in revenue to local communities, state and national governments, and individual households. It is only fair then that we devote a considerable amount of our energies into keeping them safe, while they are at work.
But our success is not just dependent on our workforce. The goodwill of the local communities where we operate plays an equally important role in allowing us the social license to operate. Over the last 21 years, we have tried to nurture our relationship with these communities so that they feel that they are part of the economic growth story of their region. Where possible we have engaged them directly or indirectly with our business operations. We have also developed programs that have helped local community members enhance their skillsets and those that have improved the local infrastructure.
Collectively, our focus on people and relationships has resulted in Cairn becoming the largest private oil & gas company in India.
