Maintenance Workshop – MBA
Mangala Bhagyam Aishwarya (MBA) team at Barmer, Rajasthan organised “Maintenance Workshop” on December 18 -19, 2018. The workshop brainstormed and deliberated on adopting new technologies, ideas to improve existing systems,safety, cost optimization and zero discharge / environmental initiatives which can form a plan for greater business objective from maintenance function. Enthusiasm of teams during workshop was evident as several new ideas were discussed to mitigate challenges and bring cost optimization. The workshop created an opportunity for bright and young talents within departments to share innovative ideas and align their initiatives and thoughts on key business objectives. Special thanks goes to Mr Muthir Kharusi - SBU President and Mr Mandeep Narang - Field General Manager, for their support and guidance in driving this initiative to engage site teams towards business goals.

Protecting Human Rights
True to our commitment to human rights, outlined in Vedanta Code of Business Conduct & Ethics and Vedanta Supplier Code of Conduct, Cairn Oil & Gas organized a workshop on UK Modern Slavery Act on November 01, 2018. The workshop was attended by Procurement and Supply Chain Management (PSCM) professionals including GETs and MTs from all Vedanta business units. Facilitated by the Cairn PSCM team with the support of external partners PwC, this event witnessed a great exchange of ideas and best practices being followed at our business as well as in the industry to mitigate risks related to modern slavery and human rights. Modern slavery risk is evolving and we will continue adapting our approach to mitigate this risk and hope that the work we are doing today will help us in developing an even more robust approach in the future.

As Mark Quinn quoted “Digital learning is not being confined to brick and mortar classrooms; using blended learning platforms to differentiate experiences.” Recently IT & Innovation team launched a three days learning session in collaboration with HR to educate GETs on digital capabilities, organization’s intent and how they can contribute. The live learning session was delivered through Workplace by Facebook. The aim of the program was to make our young employees aware about the current digital programs and how they can contribute by their fresh ideas to add thrust to the digitalization journey in the company. This session would be followed by free flow of ideas from GETs which would be evaluated for their impact to business. The best ideas will be recognized and ideators would be given a chance to participate in the delivery of solutions that emanate from the ideas.

Partnership Meet 2018
The Procurement & Supply Chain Management team at Cairn organised Partners Meet in Gurgaon on Dec, 2018 The theme of the event was “Delivering value through partnership & collaboration”. Focused on small and medium Opex suppliers, the meet was attended by senior executives of our vendor partners as well as from various functions within Cairn. Important topics ranging from HSE, Vedanta’s vision and growth plans, code of business ethics and compliance including UK MSA and UKBA Acts, payment process and new procurement initiatives were shared through interactive and engaging sessions. The partner’s meet also provided an opportunity to some of our long term partners to share their journey, learnings and innovations deployed through their engagement with Cairn over the years. Commenting on the partners meet one of our suppliers wrote to us “Let me thank you and your colleagues for inviting us to a very well organized and informative Vendor Meet. Looking forward to more engagement and collaborating with Cairn Oil & Gas”.

Health & Safety Awareness
In purview of enhancing utmost safety standards accompanied with essential health and environment aspects, a mega campaign was driven in Raageshwari Gas Terminal on December 1, 2018. The campaign demonstrated prerequisites of behavioral safety and safety precautions while lifting. It further provided insight on eradication of AIDS as subject day symbolized World AIDS Day. Furthermore, a deliberation was also conducted on electrical safety standards. As part of environmental awareness, the campaign focused on vital parameters which are essential pursuant towards low emission of Green House Gas (GHGs). The campaign concluded with its signatory practice of giving “Thank You” cards” to the participants

Sword of Honour
The British Safety Council (BSC) awarded Cairn Raageshwari Gas Terminal (RGT) with their prestigious Sword of Honour for excellence in Health, Safety, and Environment (HSE) management. This is a first for Cairn Oil & Gas, and paves the way for rest of the Cairrn operations to follow suit. The award was presented by the BSC on November 30, 2018 at London. Mr Jacob Mathew, SBU President, RJ Gas Production & Development, received the award on behalf of Cairn. RGT along with other terminals applied for BSC five star assessment and subsequently qualified for Sword of Honour award. The score of the five star Occupational Health and Safety audit is directly linked to the Sword of Honour application process and RGT managed to achieve 93.2% with five star rating during BSC assessment audit six months ago.

Global Fire & Security Awards
The International Fire & Security Exhibition and Conference (IFSEC) India awarded Cairn Oil & Gas security function with three prestigious awards at the 12th IFSEC India Awards 2018 on December 13, 2018. The awards were conferred under three categories - excellence in physical guarding services- upstream operations, excellence in security training & awareness – midstream operations and excellence in control room security – midstream operations.This award completes the hat trick for our security function in receiving the award three times in a row. Col Ajay Bakshi, CSO Corporate & Offshore, Col Ravi Prasad, CASO Rajasthan, Maj Subhash Sharma, CSO Midstream, Capt Deepak Patni, Deputy CSO, RJ; Mr Lokender Singh Bika, Manager Security & Vendor Management; received the award on behalf of the company from Mr Rakesh Sharma, Vice President, GCSO, Barclays (Jury Member) and Mr. Yogesh Mudras, Managing Director at UBM India Pvt Ltd.

Rajasthan Gas Production team won yet another accolade for Best Environment Practices by SKOCH Leadership Award for Energy in December 2018. SKOCH Group is one of the eminent policy think tank foundation. Raageshwari Gas Terminal (RGT) won the award, validating its high standard of environmental practices. RGT got nominated for “Order of Merit Award” in the category of “Top 20 Energy Projects” & bagged “Energy Silver Skoch Award”.The award was conferred for “Implementation of natural gas recovery- zero flaring during milling operations”. It established a new benchmark for future hydro fracking operations. The award acknowledged the initiaves taken towards reduction in pollution, reduced impact on community and bio-diversity and accomplishment of entire hydro fracturing (milling campaign) with zero HSE incident. On behalf of the company the award was received by Mr Swapnil Sharma, Senior Manager - Operation RGT.

Good nutrition is one of the keys to a healthy life. A knowledge sharing session on wellness and lifestyle conducted by Mr Satyajit Dash was organised for employees in association with Cairn medical team (HSSEQS) at Veda Library on December 20, 2018. The session was planned to create awareness on nutrition, healthy diet, eating habits, blood sugar and more. This session aimed to motivate to all participants to get healthy and fit again. Satyajit shared examples like toxic tree and our food can be our medicine. He further elaborated Low Carb High Fat (LCHF) concept as a way of life; sleep and sleeping time matters, what food item should be avoided and what we all should eat without any concern. He also differentiated ‘how did ancient people kept themselves fit without gyms’ and concluded that it’s 80% nutrition and only 20% workout. Around 40 employees participated and described the session as an eye opener.

Cairn Oil & Gas is committed to promoting sports & cultural events to generate awareness on sports, healthcare, wellness and social causes.The 3rd edition of Cairn Pink City Half Marathon (CPCHM) was held in Jaipur on December 16, 2018 with Cairn Oil & Gas as the “Title Partner”.The event with 3 race categories of half marathon (21.097 km), cool run (10 km) and dream run (5 km) saw enthusiastic participation by more than 9000 runners from across the globe and more than 100 cities across India. The event was flagged off by Mr S K Gupta - Director General Income Tax, Mrs Neena Nigam – Chief Principal Secretary Income Tax, Dr Anupama Soni – Mrs. Asia Pacific, Mr Sandeep Singh Maan – Para Olympian, Mr Sunder Singh – Para Olympian, Mr Riyaz Bhati – President all India Gymnastic Federation, Dr B.S. Rathore – Director Petroleum – Rajasthan, Dr Ashok Lahoty - Mayor Jaipur City and senior management of Cairn oil and Gas amongst others. Several senior civil services officers, corporate executives, students and functionaries of government departments participated with huge gusto and zest. More than 200 employees from Cairn Oil & Gas and Vedanta Ltd. participated in the event. A pre-buzz was created to capture excitement and build curiosity. Live updates were posted on social media channels in form of employee testimonial videos and other online engagement activities. The event was widely covered in media.

Cairn Pink City Half Marathon
HIV Awareness Campaign
A community awareness campaign on HIV AIDS in collaboration with District Health Department, District AIDS Control Society, Barmer Jan Sewa Samiti (BJSS) and many other local bodies was organised from November 30 to December 02, 2018 in Barmer, Rajasthan. The campaign commenced with a candle light march at District Hospital, Barmer on November 30, 2018. An awareness rally was organised in Barmer city on the occasion of World HIV AIDS Day, December 1, 2018 which was enthusiastically attended by ~300 nursing students and volunteers.
Various other events covering different aspects of HIV and AIDS prevention and control were conducted in the Government Nursing College, Barmer by BJSS and District Aids Control Society for ~350 participants. The best performers in the events were awarded during the closing ceremony on December 03, 2018, attended by several important stakeholders. Dr. BL Mansooriya, PMO of Govt. District Hospital Barmer, Vice Principal Govt. Nursing Collage, Mr Nishant Kumar, Senior Manager, Cairn Oil & Gas and many other health department officials graced the program. The campaign was widely covered in the local media.

Cairn Centre of Excellence (CCoE) in Jodhpur is committed to impart skill education to the local youth of the region. It is the state-of-the-art vocational training centre that offers world class vocational training in advanced courses like IT, automobile, welding, solar, wind and retail. December 5, 2018 saw the commencement of a new batch of 19 young trainees, including 5 girls, from M/s Saint Gobain. As part of creating awareness and promoting “Mission Clean India”, “Green India”, the students participated in tree plantation activity on the 1st day of training. The customized training for a duration of one month is scheduled from December 5, 2018 till January 07, 2019. .

Cairn Enterprise Centre (CEC), Barmer is at the forefront of imparting skill based training to the youth in the region. One such story is about Kana Ram Gora from Village Saiyon ka Tala, Chohtan, Barmer District who enrolled himself for a basic electrician course at CEC, Barmer. As an unemployed youth his life changed for good after his completion of vocational training course at CEC. He was taught about basic concepts in theory and practical classes in an interesting way. The soft skills training also enhanced his behavioral and communication skills in English language. He is currently employed with M/s Deendayal Vidyut Connection, Chohtan where his job is to install electrical meter connections under the Govt. scheme in various villages. His job earns him a salary of Rs. 12,000 per month. He is also engaged in a part time job with M/s Ramsnehi Electricals shop in Chohtan and earning Rs.8,000 per month as a salesperson and electrician. He conveys his gratitude to CEC to put him on to the right track and direction for a bright future.

Cairn Oil & Gas, in association with Gosana Village Panchayat & DHARA Sansthan successfully organised two mega community health check-up camps on November 25, 2018 at Government Primary School in Gosana Village near AGI-16, in Gujarat and December 16, 2018 at Government Primary School in Asodar Village near AGI-10, in Gujarat. Both the camps were arranged as part of our Mobile Health Van program which saw many community members benefitting from free health check-up and availing medical services.The camp at Gosna Village was inaugurated by Mr Rupa Thakor & Mr Bhupta – Sarpanch and the camp at Asodar Village was inaugurated by Mr Sagta Bhai – Village Sarpanch, Mr Lunaram & Mr Ruparam along with key officials from Government Primary School, PRIs & Sarpanchs of neighbouring villages. Cairn team interacted with all the doctors, staff and community representatives, sharing the development activities of the company in the area. Village Sarpanch appreciated Cairn’s efforts towards benefit of the community and thanked for taking the initiative of organizing the health camp and awareness session.

World Soil Day was celebrated at the Krishi Vigyan Kendra, Gudamalani on December 05, 2018 as part of our Agri-NRM Program. The theme for this year’s World Soil Day was “Be the Solution to Soil Pollution”. The objective of this initiative was to raise awareness among the farmers about the degrading condition of soil due to urbanization, climate change, excessive use of fertilizers and chemicals etc. Around 70 farmers linked with Cairn Agri-NRM project attended the event, to venerate the importance of a resource pivotal to their livelihood in the desert region of Rajasthan. In a region that is hit by famines every third year, it is fundamental for farmers to look closely at measures to conserve soil as a resource. Importance of soil cards was discussed with farmers and soil health cards were distributed to all participants.

Cairn Enterprise Centre (CEC) is a vocational training center established in Barmer in 2007 to develop the capacities for the local youth.This is a case study on how CEC is been changing the employment landscape of Barmer region. Kanwara Ram who hails from an agrarian family from Village Khara Mahechan, Barmer was unemployed until he learnt about the vocational training course offered in CEC, Barmer. He enrolled himself for a basic electrician course which imparted him with skills of electrician including house wiring. The soft skills training also enhanced his behavioral and communication skills in English language. He is currently placed with M/s Bharti Airtel company in Sindhri town as a DG operator and technician with a salary of Rs 10,000 per month plus other allowances. He credits CEC, Barmer for his growth and success.

Mr Narendra Singh Rathore, In-charge Police Training Centre, Jodhpur accompanied by Mr Shiv Mangal Singh, Retd. Assistant Director -Education visited the Cairn Centre of Excellence (CCoE) on December 08, 2018. They were welcomed with planting of a saplings in the campus. The visitors were briefed about various skill training facilities, courses being offered and taken on an informative tour around the centre. Chairman, Anil Agarwal addressed the members of the Young President’s Organization (YPO) Delhi Chapter on December 13, 2018 at New Delhi. A global network of chief executives, YPO facilitates engagement, learning and growth. It is an inclusive platform that discusses business, personal, family and community impact. The members of the organization seek inspiration from the world’s most influential business leaders.The Delhi chapter witnessed an interactive session where Chairman discussed with the business leaders his vision for India. He shared his life experiences and the journey of Vedanta. He touched upon a wide array of topics including entrepreneurship, innovation, nation building, CSR and sustainable development. The session was moderated by Mr Pranjal Sharma, a well-known economic analyst, journalist and writer.
Upgradation of Anganwadi Centres
Vedanta Limited signed an MOU with the Government of Jharkhand to undertake the renovation and up-gradation of selected 150 Integrated Child Development Sevices - Anganwadi centres from Manoharpur and Anandpur block in West Singhbhum district of Jharkhand state. As a part of its CSR initiative, Vedanta has pledged to spend Rs. 2.25 crore for the renovation of all proposed Anganwadi centres which will be completed in phased manner.
National Energy Conservation Day
On December 14, 2018, Vedanta Limited Jharsuguda concluded its week-long energy conservation campaign culminating in the celebration of 27th National Energy Conservation Day. The closing ceremony commemorated the efforts and achievements of the company in energy management and conservation, with a special focus on the week-long observance of the occasion.The campaign was kick-started on December 8, 2018 and a plethora of activities were carried out over the course of a week. As part of the campaign, various initiatives and activities like carpooling, quiz, drawing competition, extempore and model making competition was organized, involving employees, students, members of the community and partner companies. At the closing ceremony, winners of the various activities and events were awarded.
Vedanta Women Football League
After four months of thrilling football, filled with plenty of action and surprising results, the second season of the Vedanta Women's Football League drew to a close with Panjim Footballers crowned champions for the second consecutive time at Sesa Football Academy's Sirsaim campus. The prize distribution ceremony which was held December 7, 2018 at Goa was attended by dignitaries from the Goa Football Association, who gave away the trophy for the winners, along with other individual awards.
Vedanta Limited, Lanjigarh, in association with Mahashakti Foundation and FIDR (Forum for Integrated Development and Research), organised a one-of-its-kind Dhokra Art and Tribal painting exhibition.The artisans were provided with a platform to display, earning praise and appreciation for their craftwork and received a good sale of their products from the employees and residents of the township. This was a unique initiative to promote the indigenous art forms of Odisha.
