200 KBOEPD Milestone

RGT, Rajasthan

Celebrations were held at Raageshwari Gas Terminal (RGT) to mark the 200 KBOEPD. Mr. S K Singh, SBU Operations Head-Gas congratulated the entire team for putting in their tremendous efforts in achieving this great success. He encouraged everyone to stay in best physical and mental health so as to cherish the upcoming growth journeys. Cake cutting was followed by fun and frolic games organised by wellness committee.

CB Family Day

Suvali, Gujarat

CB/OS-2 operations recently celebrated its 15th year anniversary with 15000 BOPD of production which comes at success of recent drilling program. To celebrate this achievement, Cambay team organised a ‘Family Day’ in Suvali. Mr. Pankaj Jain, SBU - 4 President and Mr. Viresh Patel, Installation Manager addressed the employees and thanked them for their contributions towards the milestone achievement. During the event, best CAFÉ (Cairn Award For Excellence) winners of the year 2017-18 were felicitated.

Digital Transformation Workshop


Cairn is progressing towards the next phase of growth and providing support to the country in achieving energy self-sufficiency. The first ever “Digital transformation” workshop was organised at Corporate Office in Gurgaon on May 2, 2018 to share employees’ perspective on adapting digital tecnology into their daily work domains. The Workshop began with a keynote speech by Mr. Pankaj Kalra (CFO), who shared the Group vision and mission for the digital transformation. This was followed by Mr. Anand Laxshmivarahan (CDO, Oil & Gas), who briefly shared his digital vision and prospective approach of three broad digital interventions – IT operational transformation; Current quick win portfolio & digital strategy and Execution exercise. The workshop also saw inauguration of first ever Cairn Digital Council with an objective to bring strong governance and executing digital initiatives across diverse work streams. More than 40 participants shared their perspective on how digital technology can be adopted in their respective work domains and highlighted prospective digital roadmap, update on current in-progress digital initiatives and external view on current digital disruption.

International Biodiversity Day

Barmer, Rajasthan

The United Nations has proclaimed May 22 as ‘The International Day for Biological Diversity (IDB)’ to increase understanding and awareness of biodiversity issues.  On this occasion, Cairn Oil & Gas, organised a guest lecture on ‘Biodiversity and its Importance for our Survival’ by distinguished guest speaker Mr. Vikram Kesharee Pradhan, IFS, DFO Barmer. During the lecture, he explained about biodiversity, species on the verge of extinction, biodiversity conservation efforts and also highlighted the roles of corporates, communities and individuals in conservation of biodiversity and ecological balance. Cairn site leadership and other employees and contractors were present during the event. As part of the event, Cairn also conducted biodiversity photography contest, where employees participated by submitting fascinating photos of ‘Thar Ecology’.


Safety for All

RGT, Rajasthan

Establishing an effective near-miss reporting process is an essential part of our ‘Zero Harm’ program. In this direction, a near miss incident reporting campaign was organised at Raageshwari Gas Terminal (RGT) on April 26, 2018. Mr. Samir Kulkarni – Installation Manager, RGT explained the gathering about what constitutes ‘near miss’ and how it differs from unsafe act and conditions. Mr. Srikrishna.S, Chief HSEQ Officer, emphasised the importance of reporting and shared examples for easy understanding about how an unsafe act, unsafe condition could cause a near miss incident.  Mr. Kushal Singh, Booster Compressor Operator of M/s. Deep Industries was also encouraged with a reward as an appreciation for reporting the best near miss incident.

Cairn Premier League

MPT, Rajasthan

Weekends are great and everyone loves them even at site. While IPL fever was gripping the country, Cairn Wellness Committee organised ‘Box Cricket’ tournament (mini IPL) at OB lawns from May 5-6 2018. All site based employees and contractors unleashed their love for the gentleman’s game in the sweltering heat by participating in large numbers. The tournament featured fourteen teams comprising of six players competing with each other. SCM Lions were the winners and Sodexo Warriors finished the tournament as the runners up. This tournament also helped improve communication, team work and co-operation among employees across various functions.


Swachhata Pakhwada

RGT, Rajasthan

“Make cleanliness not just by appearance but by habit." With this message, team at Raageshwari Gas Terminal (RGT) along with administrative officials, carried out activities related to cleanliness at site locations at a nearby local town in Nagar. A program was organised at RGT on May 8, 2018 in the presence of Mr. PK Jain - Deputy Director, Directorate General of Mines Safety (DGMS), Ministry of Labor and Employment. He addressed the gathering & stressed the need to make cleanliness as a habit. On this occasion, RGT Police station SHO, Mr. Rajesh Bishnoi and RGT leadership team, Mr. Subhash K. Singh - GM – RJ Gas Production, Mr. Krishnamurthy S. IM – RJ Gas Production, Mr. Santosh Srivastava, CHSO – RJ Gas Production expressed their views on issues related to cleanliness and way the forward to sustain good housekeeping practices. In addition to the cleaning program, tree plantation ceremony was also held at RGT.

Awareness on Road Safety

RGT, Rajasthan

The 29th National Road Safety Week was observed at Raageshwari Gas Terminal from April 23-30, 2018. As part of the celebrations, a social awareness campaign was conducted on road safety on April 27, 2018. Mr. Samir Kulkarni, Installation Manager and Mr. Bimal Shah, Road Safety Officer, RGT briefed the employees and contractor staff on the objectives of the Road Safety Week and its importance. Drivers working at Cairn operations expressed their views on positive impact of Road Safety System which are being followed in the company. The best performing drivers were also rewarded with prizes.

Project Divyang


An MoU was signed between Cairn Foundation and Paralympic Committee of India (PCI) at the Cairn Oil and Gas Office, Gurgaon on May 18, 2018 to continue its support under ‘Project Divyang’ which is working towards strengthening the Paralympic Movement in India. The MoU was signed by Mr. Akhil Agrawal, Head, Financial Controller & CSR, Cairn and Group Captain Shahrukh Shamshad (Retd), PCI. Cairn will support the sporting endeavors of para athletes with the potential of excelling at national and international Level. Our support is extended to some of the key activities like specialized training, coaching, awareness & motivational workshops, diet & nutrition, exposure to global competitions, athlete’s grants, sports kit and equipment.

Green Barmer, Clean Barmer

Barmer, Rajasthan

In our continuous endeavor towards promoting Health Safety & Environment (HSE) practices under our CSR outreach programs, an HSE orientation workshop was conducted at the District Hospital, Barmer on May 17, 2018. The workshop was organised for 60 housekeeping staff and Barmer Jan Sewa Samiti team members working under the “Green Barmer, Clean Barmer” programme, which is an ongoing health initiative that focuses on sanitation and hygiene of the hospital.


Mr. Hrishikesh, Assistant Manager, HSE and Mr. Prabhat, Site HSE in-charge SODEXO, conducted interactive technical sessions on various HSE practices covering bio-waste management, monitoring & supervision mechanism, public dealing while carrying out housekeeping at public places, workplace hazards and worksite safety etc. They also discussed emergency response mechanisms and ‘Tool Box’ practices to be followed on a daily basis.


Mr. Chagani, Nursing Superintendent, District Hospital appreciated the effort of organising the session and requested for similar sessions to be extended to nursing students and hospital staff in the future.


CSR Town Hall

RGT, Rajasthan

An employee Town hall was organised at RGT on May 19, 2018 to provide a platform to Cairn employees to discuss the value of giving back to society through the business. The Cairn CSR team consisting of Mr. Nishant Kumar – Community Development Officer, Mr. Chandra Pratap Singh Rajawat – Manager - CSR, Mr. Bhanu Pratap Singh – Manager – CSR and Dr. Uma Bihari Dwivedi - Assistant Manager - CSR, interacted with the employees and provided an overview of all the CSR initiatives undertaken across various thematic areas in Barmer. The event saw the participation of ~40 employees who also expressed their interest to contribute to the programmes in future.

Road Safety Awareness

Barmer, Rajasthan

29th Road Safety Week was celebrated by the Cairn CSR team in collaboration with the District Transport Department during the last week of April. Road safety awareness programmes were organised for students from Government Senior Secondary Schools at Mundo Ki Dhani, Nimbaniyion ki Dhani and Bhadkha. Students attended expert sessions and participated in competitions including drawing and elocution on the theme of road safety, health & hygiene. The week long activities saw the enthusiastic participation of over 600 children. Key stakeholders from the local communities and school management committee members were also present at the events. An appreciation letter for the drive was awarded to Cairn by the school management.


Sabka Sath, Sabka Gaon, Sabka Vikas

Barmer, Rajasthan

The Prime Minister had announced “Gram Swaraj Abhiyan” as a campaign to be undertaken under the name of “Sabka Sath, Sabka Gaon, Sabka Vikas” in order to promote social harmony, spread awareness about pro-poor initiatives of government, and also to obtain their feedback on various welfare programmes.


The Cairn CSR team organised an awareness campaign in Barmer district from April 14, 2018 to May 5, 2018. Awareness sessions were conducted in Lapundra village in Gida block on development based themes such as sanitation, hygiene as well as government’s flagship schemes such as Beti Bachao, Beti Padhao among others.  Key village authorities such as sarpanch, village development officer, and school principal etc., recognised Cairn’s efforts. Various activities were organized including drawing and debate competitions on the themes of sanitation and hygiene followed by a prize distribution ceremony to felicitate the ‘Best Social Worker’ award (Sanitation). Successful participants were also recognised for their efforts. The event witnessed a participation of ~400 people.


Swacch Bharat Abhiyan

Barmer, Rajasthan

Cairn CSR team in collaboration with the Barmer district administration as well as Cairn operations, Project teams organised a ‘Swachhta’ campaign in Bhagyam operation area on May 1, 2018 to create awareness on sanitation and hygiene. The employees were divided into teams and were assigned different areas to clean. All the garbage accululated by the teams was collected at a designated place for proper disposal. Cairn officials including Mr.Jyoti Ranjan - Acting Installation Manager - Bhagyam, Mr. Navaneeth Krishna - Installation Manager, North, Mr.Neelkamal - Security Manager - Bhagyam, Dr.Uma Bihari Dwivedi-Assistant Manager, CSR, Mr. Rahul Sharma - Coordinator - CSR along with Mr. Ram Singh Boithiya (Sarpanch) addressed the gathering. Key stakeholders appreciated the efforts of the Cairn team.


Stakeholder Engagement

Jamnagar, Gujarat

Micro initiatives across villages in the pipeline area in Gujarat are based on a PPP model with a focus on creating channels of continuous engagement with communities. Stakeholder engagement sessions were organised at Rasangpar villages from Jamnagar district with the following objectives:-

1. Awareness on Pipeline Safety, Do’s & Don’ts in RoU corridor through dissemination of flyers in regional language & providing toll-free number contact details.

2. Opening of community drinking water pipeline in association with WASMO, Gram Panchayat & Vedanta Cairn Oil & Gas

Key village members from Panchayti Raj institutions & village sarpanch, Ms. Mani Ben Desur Bhai Kkarngaya, shared their gratitude. Mr. L N Sharma - Senior Associate, (Land Acquisition) along with security representative, informed the local youth about the initiation of skill training & personality development courses.


Sujalam Sufalam Campaign

Viramgam, Gujarat

Cairn CSR team participated in the ‘Sujalam Sufalam Jal Sanchay Abhiyan’ campaign which targets an increase in the water conservation and storage capacity of the state by 135 crore litre of water. On May 13, 2018, Cairn supported the canal cleaning & pond digging work at Hansalpur, located near Viramgam terminal, which was initiated by senior government officials along with Cabinet Minister of Education Department, Mr. Bhupendra Singh Chudasma .Cairn team members from the Operations function, Mr. Dharmendra Mavani, Ms. Kunjal Shah & Security team extended their support to the campaign. Mr. Chudasma praised Cairn’s efforts to support the State level campaign.


Blood Donation Camp

Viramgam, Gujarat

Under Cairn’s CSR volunteering program, 3rd Blood Donation camp was organised on May 18, 2018 at Community Health Centre, Viramgam, in association with Government Block Health Office. 78 Cairn colleagues and participants from the health department contributed to the noble cause.  The participants were awarded with a certificate and card that enables them to access one unit of blood for their relatives from Red Cross Society’s partner hospitals.


Safety First

A road safety awareness drive was organised in Viramgam, Gujarat in association with Block Administrative Office, T-man & CEDRA.


Mr. Ashish Gupta, In-charge Field Pipeline Operations – Midstream, Mr. Aniruddsinh Rathod, DGM - Pipeline Operations and other Cairn employees attended an inauguration ceremony at Hansalpur circle where the team demonstrated HSE practices by pasting radium reflective stickers on over 350 vehicles along with dissemination of over 1300 flyers on road safety practices. In addition, two interactive sessions on road safety were organised at Viramgam Gas Terminal which saw the participation of 41 Govt. officials & 38 Cairn employees.


Barmer Unnati Programme

Jodhpur, Rajasthan

Under Barmer Unnati, Cairn’s Agriculture and Natural Resource management programme, a group of 26 farmers attended a training session on May 25, 2018 at CAZRI, Jodhpur about farming techniques for maximizing production efficiency through optimum utilization of natural resources including art of grafting Ber plants in Wadis (agri-horti units) developed by Cairn under its CSR interventions. Experts from CAZRI, Dr. T.R. Meghwal, Dr. R.R. Meghwal and Dr. D. Kumar facilitated the training for our farmers.

Swachhta Pakhwada

Suvali, Gujarat

CB/OS-2 team headed by Installation Manager Mr.Pandidurai had organised a fortnight long “Swachhta Pakhwada” campaign at Cambay site covering both onshore terminal and offshore platforms.  On social front, the campaign included cleaning programme organised at the parking area outside the premises, where employees and contractor staff of around 50 people joined hands for the social good. Mr. Pandidurai addressed the people about the activity and highlighted its importance for the society and for our operations.



Chairman Business Award

Chairman’s Business Award for Q4 (FY 18) was declared during the recently held Group Ex Co on May 15-16, 2018. Team Skorpion Zinc was declared the winner and Fujairah Gold was declared the Runner Up for the coveted award. The evaluation committee consisted of Kishore Kumar, Dilip Golani, Arun Kumar GR, Deshnee Naidoo, P Ramnath and Suresh Bose joined the panel as an observer.

Swachh Bharat Abhiyan

Sanitation is the buzz word today. The ‘Swachh Bharat Abhiyan’ is a massive movement that seeks to create Clean India. To ensure safe sanitation practices Vedanta in partnership with District Administration Kalahandi and Feedback Foundation has initiated a project through CLTS approach to make 6 Gram Panchayat’s Open Defecation Free. The process entails community engagement and behavioural change communication. It is with great pride to announce that 5 villages of Lanjigarh block of Kalahandi district in Baterlima GP have been declared themselves as “ODF villages”. This is the 1st GP of Kalahandi district attaining the ODF status and is a proud moment for the Government too.

CSR Volunteering Activity

Cairn Wellness Committee Barmer in collaboration with the Nand Ghar team organised a visit to Nand Ghar on May 6, 2018 as part of the employee volunteering program and community engagement outreach. With participation of around 100 people which included children, community members and Cairn volunteers; the Bheelon ka Basti Nand Ghar became a true example of community ownership in our developmental initiatives.Cairn volunteers engaged with the children of Nand Ghar to create an atmosphere of fun and fervour. The event also provided much needed break for our colleagues who will surely remember the time they spent with the children.

SEEM National Energy Management Awards

Plant-1 of Vedanta Jharsuguda Team has won the prestigious ‘SILVER AWARD'’ in SEEM National Energy Management Awards 2017. This recognition not only depicts our dedication and efficiency as a team but also establishes our commitment towards energy conservation as a society.

CPP 1215 MW, Jharsuguda has also awarded ‘SEEM National Energy Management awards – SNEMA’ and recognised for Energy Efficiency by Society of Energy Engineers and Managers (SEEM) India which is the national professional body of Certified Energy Managers, Auditors and energy professionals. CPP 1215 MW received Silver Award in “Industries & Facilities” category along with NTPC Korba, Dariba 2 x 80 MW CPP.
