Integrity for Continuity

Timely interventions at operational front help in managing the business integrity and continuity.  A tube failure was noticed in Boiler No Z707 which was caused due to a boiler bank tube rupture in the form of fish mouth opening. Such type of failure is typically associated with deposition on the internal wall of the tube. During the spot inspection which was carried out only on the accessible tubes, which approximately 5% of total numbers of tubes (~1500 tubes), overall condition of the tubes was not known. In order to do complete assessment of the boiler tubes RFET (Remote field Electromagnetic Testing) technique was used for the inspection of tubes, which is the fastest method to inspection the complete length of the tube without the requirement of tube cleaning. Inspection findings confirmed no thickness losses in the Boiler tubes. Post inspection & repairs and OEMs, clearance the boiler was taken back in service.
