Mr Navin Agarwal, Chairman, Vedanta Ltd. visited Suvali & Viramgam Terminal in Gujarat on June 18, 2019 and Ravva site operations on June 19, 2019. During his visit, chairman had series of interactions with employees, the site senior leadership, women employees, high performers where he stressed on the organisational vision of production enhancement with utmost safety and sustainable practices. On his arrival at site, he was welcomed by Mr Ajay Kumar Dixit, CEO Cairn Oil & Gas along with some of the Cairn ExCo members and others. As part of our efforts to increase the green cover around areas of operations, he planted a tree. During his interactions with local stakeholders and CSR partners, he reiterated Vedanta’s vision of nation’s growth through natural resources. He also shared his commitment towards company’s values on safety, sustainability and community empowerment. He was also given a tour of the control room during his visit. Thereafter, chairman interacted with the employees and site leadership through town hall. Employees expressed their delight and were motivated by their interactions with the chairman.

Two in One
Cairn Oil & Gas have embarked on a growth journey in pursuit of our vision to contribute 50% of India’s domestic oil production. Towards this vision and in order to enhance production, two drilling rigs were placed on Mangala operating wellpad 10. This operation was pioneered for the first time at Cairn which had its own challenges in form of SIMOPs & space constraints. The challenges were deliberated with our growth partner and executed with utmost supervision & planning which helped to execute the project to capitalize on production by early hookup. The entire operation once again proved the Cairn’s “Can-do” spirit and the possibility of achieving the impossible, once again!

Rajasthan gas team successfully completed Raageshwari Gas Terminal (RGT) maintenance shutdown on June 09, 2019. The activities were spread across production, instrumentation, mechanical, electrical and QA/QC functions over three and half days and the plant was normalized ah ead of the schedule in a safe and efficient manner. The shutdown had many challenges like engaging temporary contractor staff, large movement of vehicles inside the plant area, extreme weather conditions and all day round activities. All temporary contractor staff underwent mandatory trainings which totalled to 743 hours. Visible Felt Leadership (VFL) was demonstrated by site leaders and frontline supervisors through tool box talks, safety interactions and frequent hazard tours during shut down activity. Safe and timely completion of shutdown was only possible with effective planning, timely coordination & team work.

Summer Internship Program
Cairn Oil & Gas has offered 85 students “Summer Internship Program” for 2019. These students from top management institutes and engineering colleges are part of VLDP (Vedanta Leadership Development Program), MTs (Management Trainees) and internship program. This batch consists of more than 50% of students from top 3 IIM’s (Indian Institute of Management), Top 6 IIT’s (Indian Institute of Technology) and remaining from tier-1 institutes. Selection of interns are done keeping in mind business requirements and other key indicators like 32% diversity and selection of quality interns on day zero for all IIT’s. During the internship, the students are anchored well for a period of 6-8 weeks and defined review sessions. In order to retain top talent pre placement offer/interview are offered to well deserving candidates at the end of the internship, which helps in our vision to maintain brand presence in premier colleges.

Stakeholder engagement involves interactions at multiple levels and functionaries. As part of one such engagement, Mr Shivraj Singh, Sub Divisional Magistrate visited Radhanpur terminal on June 21, 2019. During his visit Mr Hitudan Zula, Terminal Manager and Mr Avinash Rawal, Manager CSR briefed him about our business activities in the region including community engagement. As part of our green efforts, Mr Singh planted a sapling and interacted with employees.

World Environment Day
All Site Locations
World Environment Day, celebrated worldwide on June 5, is an annual United Nations’ event to encourage worldwide awareness and action for protection of our environment. The theme for 2019 is ‘Air Pollution’, which was a call to action to combat one of the great environmental challenges of our time. The occasion was celebrated with fervour across office and site locations including Gurgaon, Raageshwari Gas Terminal (RGT), Mangala Processing Terminal (MPT), Viramgam Terminal (VGT), Suvali, Bhogat and Ravva. Several contests and activities were organized by the respective sites environment teams to raise awareness among staff and contractor personnel about air pollution and how it affects every living organism. The activities included tree plantation drives, run for clean air, leadership talk and film screenings, as well as contests and awareness programs. The events saw high participation across teams to make the day a great success.
In MPT and RGT, a 4 Km ‘Run for Clean Air’ was organized to spread a message on ‘Beat Air Pollution’ among the employees.
In Ravva, Cairn supported Andhra Pradesh Pollution Control Board in conducting a rally at Kakinada District headquarters. Beach clean-up activity was also organised as a part of celebration along with the local community members.
In Bhogat, a ‘Go Green’ Cycle Rally was organised in the terminal wherein all HODs, employees, security personnel participated in large number to spread the message of combating air pollution and make the environment greener and healthier.
A movie titled ‘Carbon’ was aired by the Veda library at the Gurgaon Corporate office to spread awareness on pollution. On the same occasion, Veda library displayed books on Environment and related subjects which was appreciated and issued by many.

Yoga Day 2019
All Site Locations
International Day of Yoga is celebrated annually on June 21 since its inception in 2015, declared unanimously by the United Nations General Assembly (UNGA). To inculcate a habit of healthy living among the employees, yoga & meditation programs were organised at offices and site locations including Mangala Processing Terminal (MPT), Raageshwari Gas Terminal (RGT), Ravva, Suvali, Bhogat and Viramgam Gas Terminal (VGT).
Employees participated in various asanas and learned various exercises and poses that must be practiced daily to achieve physical and mental well-being. Site leadership addressed to all participants and briefed them about the importance of yoga in daily life.
In VGT, more than 20 employees & contractors participated in yoga session by senior yoga expert, Mr Jitu Bhai Pandya. Across all other location’s employees participated enthusiastically.

Cairn Oil & Gas is striving for ‘Operational excellence’ and got a major recognition at the 6th National Conclave on “5S” with four of our installations being bestowed with 5S certification. In a testimonial to our HSE and housekeeping practices, three of our installations; Raageshwari Gas, Radhanpur and Viramgam terminals were certified in the “Par Excellent” category and Suvali terminal was certified in the “Excellent” category. Suvali team winning the “Par Excellent” trophy for a Kaizen presentation was moment of pride.
This achievement was possible because of the meticulous planning, sustained efforts and tireless work by our teams at our terminals, which was guided by site leadership team. It is a significant achievement considering the various on-going operational activities at respective sites.

Regular emphasis on safety practices builds an increased awareness and well-rounded safe behaviour amongst employees and contractors. On June 5, 2019, a comprehensive HSE campaign was organized in RJ Gas in line with compliance of HSE campaign celebration following annual HSE calendar. Main theme of campaign was World Environment Day, zero tolerance, life saver & fatal risk campaign and work place stress management.
The campaign was inaugurated by Mr. S Krishnamurthy, Field General Manager – Southern Operations. During the opening ceremony, senior leaders shared their valuable experience. Post inauguration of campaign, various classroom awareness sessions and interaction were conducted throughout the month to raise awareness among staff and personnel at RGT.

Fire Safety Award
Recognition for our safety practices always sets new benchmarks and motivates us to reach even greater heights. Cairn Oil & Gas corporate office ‘DLF Atria’ has received the ‘DLF Cyber-city Workplace Fire Safety Award 2019’ as part of the DLF Cyber-city Fire Service Week.
The award was declared after satisfactory fulfilment of safety audit observations carried out as part of the process. The award was received on behalf of the company by Mr Sanjay Shishodia on April 18, 2019 during the annual awards felicitation ceremony held at Canvas Laugh Club, DLF Cyber-city, Gurgaon. This award reinstates our Cairn Administration team’s persistent, diligent and sincere efforts towards safety compliance and achieving high standards for a safe & secure workplace.

World Blood Donor Day (WBDD) is celebrated around the world on 14 June. The event serves to thank voluntary, unpaid blood donors for their life-saving gift of blood and ensure that all individuals and communities have access to affordable and timely supplies of safe blood. The theme for this year’s WBDD 2019 is ‘Safe Blood for All”, aimed at providing safe blood for the needy.
Cairn in partnership with Amalapuram Government hospital organised a blood donation camp at Ravva LQ conference hall. The Programme was inaugurated by Mr PSSV Prasad Babu; Mines Manager, Ravva Operations, along with Mr Joshua – Manager Admin and Dr. Sudarsan, Plant Doctor. Mr PSSV Prasad Babu became the first volunteer to donate blood. Around 33 volunteers, including Cairn employees and contractors donated blood during this camp. A special mention for our young GETs for coming forward to donate blood and be a part of this noble cause thereby making this event a day to remember and be proud of.
In Gurgaon, a blood donation camp was organised in partnership with Navjeevan Charitable Trust on June 21, 2019. More than 65 employees, including office drivers and housekeeping staff donated blood and saved precious lives.

CSR team at Rajasthan had the pleasure of showcasing CSR initiatives to Mr Navin Agarwal, Chairman, Vedanta Limited on May 24, 2019. The chairman along with business unit leadership team interacted with the CSR stakeholders. The interaction provided a platform to share their feedback on our CSR initiatives while also proposing new ideas/ recommendations for more effective project implementation. 14 key stakeholders from across our projects attended the session. The Chairman also interacted with the CSR team and appreciated the on-ground efforts while stressing on the need for continuous and effective stakeholder engagement.

S’Yanam, Andhra Pradesh
Cairn Oil & Gas have successfully installed 100 solar street lights across the villages in and around our areas of operation in S’Yanam, Gachakayalapora and Chirrayanam. The solar street lights have been installed across various public access areas such as schools, panchayat office, anganwadi centers, RO plants, beach road etc. The light installations are covered under a 5-year warranty period. A customer service phone number has also been displayed across the installation areas to enable the community members to contact the service provider in case of non-functioning. The community members have appreciated the Cairn’s CSR efforts towards this infrastructural development.

A 10-day “Summer Health Camp” was organized from June 3-13, 2019 in collaboration with our CSR partner agencies - Barmer Jan Sewa Samiti (BJSS), HelpAge India, Wockhardt Foundation and CHETNA along with Jalipa Military Station Barmer. The health camp was organised for the dependents of the army personnel, wherein 60+ children participated in a variety of activities. The health camp included “Multi-Specialty Health Camp”, providing free consultation & medicines and awareness on good sanitation practices. Our three specialist doctors appointed to support the District Hospital also carried out health checkups and health cards were distributed to all children. A visit to Nand Ghar was also organised to engage with children studying at our Nand Ghars.
Dr R K Maheshwari, retired Deputy Director, Department of Medical Health (retired Principal Medical Officer), Government of Rajasthan, Dr B D Tanted, retired Professor and Writer and Mr. Ramesh Mangal of BJSS delivered motivational lectures to the participants. Mr. Arnab Ghosh, CDO – CSR, Barmer, Mr. Prithvi Raj Singh Rathore, Manager Security, Mr. Suman Talukdar, Lead CSR - Schlumberger participated in the events.

It’s Summer Time
Cairn CSR in collaboration with Krishi Vigyan Kendra (KVK) organized a Kisan Mela on June 9, 2019 at our Raageshwari Gas Terminal in Gudamalani. Nearly 1200 farmers participated in the fair; where ~20 stalls were set-up by different organizations such as local NGO’s, CAZRI, Government Agriculture and Research Institute etc. to showcase their products and technologies to the farmers. Many senior scientists from various agricultural institutes were also present and carried out one-on-one discussions with the farmers addressing their questions with pointed solutions. All the participating companies demonstrated new agricultural research on agri-implements, solar pumps, horticulture farmer techniques, high yielding variety of seeds, soil testing lab, veterinary care etc. High yielding variety of seeds (>2000kg) of kharif crops; Moong, Moth and Pearl Millet – Bajra were also distributed to the farmers at 50% discounted rate of the current market price. Mr. Kailash Chaudhary, Minister of State of Agriculture, Government of India, Dr O P Yadav, Director CAZRI, Dr Eshawar Singh, Director Extension Jodhpur and Agriculture University, Dr. Praveen Bhatnagar, Head of Department – CAZRI, Dr. S K Verma, Deputy Director – Agriculture Barmer and Dr. Dinesh Prajapat, DDM NABARD visited our stall and were extremely appreciative of our CSR initiatives. We also demonstrated and updated ~800 farmers and youth about our CSR initiatives in the Barmer region.

Multi-Specialty Health Camp
A mega multi-specialty health camp was jointly organized by Cairn CSR along with our Mobile Health Van (MHV) partners - HelpAge India and Wockhardt Foundation on May 21, 2019 at Devasiyo ki Dhani near Raageshwari Gas Terminal (RGT) wellpad 04 in Gudamalani Tehsil. Cairn CSR put together a special team of doctors across gynecology, pediatrics, dermatology, dentistry and general physician who attended to nearly 186 beneficiaries. Complimentary health checkup covered activities including blood pressure check, blood sugar level and BMI to help identify cases of hypertension, diabetes, anemia and obesity. Free medicines were also distributed during the camp. Our RGT Operations team members also participated and attended the event. Krishi Vigyan Kendra team from Jodhpur and Gudamalani also used the forum to spread valuable information related to modern techniques used in agriculture and natural resource management.

S’Yanam, Andhra Pradesh
Cairn Oil & Gas successfully organized a multi-specialty health camp on May 25, 2019 at the Public Health Centre in collaboration with Konaseema Institute of Medical Sciences (KIMS) at Amalapuram. Several specialist doctors across gynecology, orthopedics, ophthalmology and general medicine supported the camp by providing free checkups and medicines to nearly 130 community members. In addition, blood pressure, blood sugar and ECG test (for 50 yrs and above) were also offered to the community members.

Cairn Oil & Gas CSR initiative on household sanitation was awarded with a “Certificate of Recognition” under the category of “Corporate Innovation Award” for setting up new benchmarks and proactively engaging with stakeholders in sanitation. The certification awarded on June 24, 2019 underscores our effort to facilitating construction of more than 20,000 individual household toilets in the Barmer district of Rajasthan. Furthermore, Cairn has also devised a “Back-End Incentivization” model for sustainable sanitation usage which created a big impact in increased utilization of the installed sanitation facilities in the district. The occasion marked the completion of 1 million toilets constructed in India under the FINISH Project. On behalf of the company Ms. Madhavi Jha, Head Corporate Communications & CSR and Dr Uma Bihari Dwivedi, Project Manager – Sanitation received the certificate of recognition from His Excellency Marten Ven Den Berg and Mr. V K Jindal, Joint Secretary, Ministry of Housing & Urban Affairs cum Mission Director SBM Government of India in the presence of more than 70 dignitaries from the development sector.

Our Partner’s in Prosperity
Cairn Oil & Gas organized an interactive and engaging CSR Partners Conclave in Barmer on June 18-19, 2019. The two-day workshop witnessed participation from all our partner agencies working across the key CSR thematic areas and projects. The workshop focused on reflections and learnings of last year including the key project deliverables for the FY2019-20. The partners were also engaged in a group exercise where-in they presented the possible areas of convergence of various projects. 60+ partner personnel attended this workshop, who appreciated the interaction. The regional media also covered the workshop including feedback from participants.

Yoga is a confluence of physical, mental and spiritual energies. The practice unites the body and consciousness and is practiced throughout the world across a wide diversity of forms. This ancient Indian practice has been specially appreciated by the United Nations General Assembly as it declared the 21st of June to be celebrated as International Day of Yoga every year. At Cairn Oil and Gas, we believe that a sound body and a sound mind is of utmost importance to everyone’s well-being. The event was celebrated under the Nand Ghar Project across seven Nangahar’s on June 21, 2019 witnessing participation from children and other community members.

Passion to Serve
Employees at Cairn operational sites continue to contribute to the community development by volunteering in community activities. Ms. Babita Beniwal, Graduate Engineer Electrical, Bhagyam visited our Nand Ghar at Suthero ki Dhani Bhadkha where more than 20 kids participated in various games, stories etc. Mr. Govinda Tikyani, Graduate Electrical Engineer, MPT shared his experience on transformers operation & maintenance at ITI campus, ~50 students attended this very informative session. Mr. Arpit Goyal, Senior Associate Finance, MPT carried out a session at PG College, Barmer on how to improve soft skill mannerisms; 40 to 50 students participated. Ms. Lavanya Pattanayak, Administration Manager, RGT and Mr. Sahib Singh Gurjar, Plant Integrity Manager, RGT and Mr. Prithvi Singh from Public Affairs team spent time to interact with the ~20 kids at our Nand Ghar in Deora ki Dhani RGT. Mr. Manish Choudhury, Senior Electrical Engineer, Bhagyam shared his professional experiences and techniques with the batch of electrical students at CEC Barmer, ~ 50 students attended the session.

Health Awareness Campaign
As a part of health initiative, Vedanta Sesa Goa Iron Ore Karnataka unit organized general health awareness programme and medical camp at Bheemeshwara English Medium High school, Bheemasamudra. The camp was conducted in association with Myrada NGO where Mobile Health Unit provided the services. The objective of the initiative was to spread awareness among the school students on the importance and techniques of personal healthcare and hygiene The session which is bound to be organized every week witnessed the participation of 52 students
Balco is striving for ‘Operational excellence’ and got a major recognition at the 6th National Conclave on “5S” with two more units being certified with 5S certification. The Cast House and Carbon has received the 5S Certification from Quality Circle Forum of India. With this all six units in Balco are “5S Certified”. This achievement is a testament to the sustained efforts by all teams.
In a move to strengthen the Jharsuguda District Management’s efforts in effective waste management, Vedanta Ltd. has donated 5000 dustbins to Jharsuguda Municipality. The District Administration aims to provide every household in the district with dustbins for proper waste segregation so effective waste management can be undertaken at district level
Vedanta’s Lanjigarh’s flagship educational initiative ‘Shiksha Sambal’ has broken new ground in its endeavour to provide pre-matriculation education support to local students. During this year’s matriculation examination in Odisha, 77% of the total number of students who have appeared for the exam have passed with flying colours.
We are featuring the sketches by children of our Midstream employees on the occasion of World Environment Day campaign. Team Finder congratulates the children for their efforts to spread the message on Air Pollution.
